Heritage in Motion: Third Series

AUGUST 22, 2026 - JANUARY 3, 2027

Colorado Nepalese Community | Curated by Binisha Shrestha

“Heritage in Motion” returns in its third series as a living archive of Nepali identity – one that moves, adapts, and evolves across geographies. Rooted in the Himalayan traditions of Nepal and carried into the landscapes of Colorado, this exhibition explores how culture is not static, but continually reshaped through migration, memory, and everyday practice.

Building on its previous iterations at the Aurora History Museum and Denver International Airport, this series deepens its focus on intergenerational storytelling and the quiet resilience of diaspora life. Through a carefully curated collection of artifacts, textiles, ritual objects, photographs, and personal narratives, the exhibition invites visitors to witness how traditions are preserved, reinterpreted, and passed on, often in new and unexpected forms.

At its heart, “Heritage in Motion” asks: What does it mean to belong when home exists in multiple places at once? How do we carry forward the essence of who we are while embracing where we are?

This third series places special emphasis on community voices, highlighting lived experiences of Nepali families in Colorado, where heritage is practiced not only in ceremonies and festivals, but in kitchens, conversations, and everyday acts of care. It is a celebration of continuity and change, of roots and routes, and of the enduring spirit of a culture in motion.
