Ages: 8-11 years old

Harness the creative power of visual storytelling while teaching your students to express themselves through Comics. Our professional artists and comic book nerds will teach your students the basics of scripting, drawing, and laying out their own comics on the subject of your choice.

Students will learn all about comics and manga, explore a plethora of comic content, and learn to create their own comics through storytelling and art techniques. By the end of the camp, they will have their own finished comic!

Get creative and dream up your own superheroes and fantasy creatures. Tell the stories of the crazy adventures they go on in your very own comic book! You’ll work with experienced artists and writers and leave with a masterpiece to take home. Pop Culture Classroom  is coming from Denver to take kids in Boulder on this unique adventure.

Summer Camp

In this Spanish/English bilingual summer camp, we will learn mixed media art, explore everyday uses of science, and integrate technology into our creations: painting, pottery, electronics, cooking, dance, yoga, and much more!

We will be Makers, creating in a safe, fun, and brave environment.

With Luna Cultura, enjoy the way in which ancestral knowledge merges with innovation and is filled with creativity.

We will learn about the history, magic, tradition, and inspiration behind different techniques of art, science, and technology.

Ages: Recommended for participants 8 to 12 years old.

Worldbuilding for Fantasy Summer Camp

Fantasy Summer Camp

Who doesn’t love getting lost in fictional worlds like the Star Wars Universe or the Wizarding World of Harry Potter? In this collaborative creative summer camp, students will learn the process of building their own Fantasy or Sci-Fi world and applying them to creative writing, art projects, game design, and gameplay! If you love to write your own stories, draw crazy creatures, or imagine yourself as the hero (or villain!) on an epic quest, this camp has something for you! Join us to explore the worlds in your own imagination and bring them to life with Pop Culture Classroom this summer!

Sewing+Camp

In this fantastic week of Sewing Camp with Tinker Art Studio, we’ll teach both hand sewing and basic machine sewing. Working on machines, campers will learn to design and sew simple patterns–choosing from options such as an eye mask and brush or pen holder. Other projects will include sewing a pillow, an over-the-shoulder sling bag, and even designing and sewing a stuffed animal. After learning the basics of hand and machine sewing, this is a fantastic medium to continue working in long after camp ends! Be sure to mark your calendar to join us on Friday for our Art Show on the Rooftop of MoB at 3:45pm!

  • Payment is due in full at time of registration, and we do not offer refunds. When you register for a camp, we hold that space specifically for your child while others are not able to enroll. We also understand that sometimes plans change. Your camp registration includes a $25 cancellation fee per camp. In the event you need to cancel, we’ll issue a credit to your account (minus the $25 cancellation fee) for any cancellations until May 15th, 2022. After May 15th, 2022, only camp transfers are possible (until 14 days prior to your camp start) and no credit will be issued for a cancellation.

  • We are happy to transfer you into another camp, space permitting, anytime up to 14 days prior to the start of the camp you’re currently registered for. There is a $15 processing fee to switch into a new camp. Camps are non-transferrable within 14 days of the camp start date.

  • For cancellations, at any point, due to COVID related situations, we will issue you a credit.

  • We will issue a credit to your account, at any time, due to COVID related absences (i.e. feeling ill, testing positive or waiting for a test result, quarantine, etc). We’re committed to continuing to do our part to support our community during the pandemic. We are also a small business and have been heavily impacted financially since March of 2020. If you are in a position to support Tinker by not requesting a credit and allowing the tuition to remain with the business, we would greatly appreciate that support, but it is not expected.

  • A minimum of 5 students must be enrolled in order for camp to be held. We will notify you if your camp might not run due to low enrollment.

In this *Brand New for 2022* camp with Tinker Art Studio, children will enjoy making all kinds of toys–including marble mazes, spinners, old fashioned climbing toys, and lots more–before setting up their own Toy Shop, complete with business name, shop display, and price chart! Join us for our Friday Art Show* to be transported into our Toy Shop emporium — on the Rooftop of Museum of Boulder! History Makers Camp

History isn’t just what’s in your textbook–it’s being made around us, all the time! Go behind the scenes at the Museum of Boulder to help us tell the stories of what’s happening in Boulder right now that is historic. Work with the Museum’s curator to connect with the community, collect stories, and create a multimedia digital exhibit!
Age: Entering 6th-9th grade
$50
The camp will mostly take place at the Museum of Boulder’s Broadway and Pine location, with the exception of the first day, which will take place at the Museum’s collections storage facility in Gunbarrel.
A personal device like a laptop or tablet is recommended to help with research, writing, and design elements of the camp, but the Museum can provide a device if needed.

Board Games Camp

Make a board game of your very own to take home. We’ll play lots of games during the week and try out each other’s games!

In this camp, students will learn about and play different types of board games, card games, etc. Throughout the week, they will also be working to design and create prototypes for their own board game! By the end of the week, they should have a playable prototype of their own.  Pop Culture Classroom is coming from Denver to take kids in Boulder on this unique adventure.

Summer Camp Field Trips

Summers are never boring here at the Museum! Take a break from the heat with our engaging and exciting group programs. First, you’ll spend an hour in our Pack It Up! exhibit, working in teams to solve unique challenges and learn about Boulder history through all the adventures Boulderites go on. Next you’ll get to tinker and create in our Google Garage, which has everything from hands-on crafts to virtual reality! You’ll finish up your visit in one of two exhibits, depending on your age. If your group is 7-years-old or younger, you’ll explore our a.MAZE.d exhibit and learn about famous mazes throughout history. If you’re older, you’ll see what makes Boulder, Boulder in the Boulder Experience, an interactive exhibit that tells the history of our city and invites you to participate in it!

 

Full scholarships are available for summer programs that serve underserved audiences. No application necessary for qualifying groups.

 

Programs are $90 per groups of 35, and last 2 hours.

 

Admission to the Museum is included in the program fee, so after you’re done, feel free to re-visit any of the exhibits, or enjoy our amazing view of downtown Boulder and the Flatirons from our rooftop terrace (which is also the perfect place for a snack or lunchtime break!).
