Black History Live: Josephine Baker
Celebrate Black History Month at the Museum of Boulder!
In partnership with Colorado Humanities, join us for the Statewide tour of Black History Live: Josephine Baker.
This program will feature the living-history portrayal by nationally acclaimed scholar/actor Becky Stone of Josephine Baker, a world-renowned performer, World War II spy, and civil rights activist. Stone’s Josephine Baker portrayal transports audience members to the early 1900s, a time when all women, and particularly women of color, struggled to find their place in a more modern America. Baker’s performances prominently used African themes and style for her predominantly white audiences.
This event is presented in partnership with: Pueblo City-County Library District, Colorado Mountain College, Pueblo Community College, Poudre River Public Library, Front Range Community College, Colorado Springs Pioneers Museum, Canon City Public Library
This special program will be the first fundraiser for our upcoming exhibit, Proclaiming Colorado’s Black History, which opens September 29th, 2023.
This event is $5 for General Public and Free for Members of the Museum of Boulder. Members will receive a promotion code in a separate email. Please reserve your space before showing up for the event. Not a member? Join today!
