Eighth Grade Unit 1: The Struggle for Suffrage Rights in Colorado, a Petition that Reflects the Core Themes of the Reconstruction Era.

Subject: Colorado Petition Opposing Statehood in Favor of Suffrage Rights for Black Men During the Reconstruction Era

Lesson Time: 90 minutes, two 45 minute class periods, or three 30 minute lessons 

Units are also available to meet CDE standards for 2nd and 4th grades and high school.

Second Grade Unit 1: Exploring our Local Neighborhoods & Changemakers: The Little Rectangle & Boulder’s Black Community During the Late 1800s to the Early 1900s.

Subject: Neighborhoods, Map Skills, and Changemakers.

Lesson Time: 60 minutes, or six 10-15 minute lessons 

Second Grade Unit 2: A Contribution to Boulder: Recipes from Boulder’s Historic Second Baptist Church.

Subject: Food, Culture, and Neighborhoods.

Lesson Time: 30- 45 minutes, or 60 minutes if students make a recipe

Units are also available to meet CDE standards for 4th and 8th grades and high school.

Subject: Interpreting, Analyzing, & Drawing Conclusions About Oral Histories as Primary Sources.

Fourth Grade Unit 1: Pioneers for Statehood, the Black Men & Women Who Helped Colorado Become the 38th State. 

Subject: Colorado Statehood & Suffrage Rights. 

Lesson Time: 80 minutes total, or two 40 minutes lessons, or three 25 minute lessons 

Fourth Grade Unit 2: Discovering Lincoln Hills.

Subject: Lincoln Hills mountain resort, Colorado History, Creating Community.   

Lesson Time: 45 minutes
