Join us in congratulating Minister Glenda Strong Robinson, who received a lifetime achievement award in this year’s Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Colorado Holiday Commission Humanitarian Awards! Minister Glenda also serves in the instrumental role of the Oral History Coordinator in our IMLS-funded “Proclaiming Colorado’s Black History” exhibit, opening on September 29, 2023 at the Museum of Boulder.

She will receive The Honorable Menola Upshaw Lifetime Achievement Award, which is fitting because both Minister Glenda and Menola spent years working in the NAACP, among many other organizations.

The postcard shown above is courtesy of the NAACP and shows Minister Glenda Robinson marching in 1968. The photo of the marchers was taken by photojournalist Ernest Withers and is on display in the Smithsonian African American Museum of History and Culture and the National Civil Rights Museum in Memphis.

Museums are places of inspiration, contemplation and community engagement. They help us to value the places that we live, work and visit, and help us understand where we have come from. They inspire learning and creativity, for children and adults, and work actively to ensure that a broad and diverse audience can access these opportunities at any stage of life. The Museum of Boulder at Tebo Center embodies these values.
